Coaches view our site and facebook pages for players because we verify them along the way first. You won’t get to simply join Simpson Scouting UNLESS you can show your potential either in person at a tournament or via good video. You’ll need to satisfy our GPA requirement too. We won’t pitch girls UNLESS they can play at any school that receives something sent by us. That way, they respect what we’re doing and you’ll gain options accordingly. All the best!

Hello Jim, Hope the holidays were good to you. We at Rider University would like to express our interest in XXXXX XXXXXXX.

As you know we are getting ready to enter our 2nd season at Rider and working hard to improve upon what we were able to accomplish in the 2018 season! We are also and are enthusiastically awaiting our 2019 and 2020 recruit classes to get here!!

We are building for the future, not only to compete for league championships but to compete in the regionals and super regionals and as you know it takes good talent along with great coaching and we have always welcomed the challenge and believe me right now it is a challenge. We will be very competitive this year but the future is where we will excel!

With that being said here is a bit more information about us and please feel free to pass this along to any players who may be interested in Rider.

Rider University is located in Lawrenceville, New Jersey about 5 miles from Princeton in a beautiful rural setting. We are 45 minutes from Philadelphia and an hour from New York City.

We are a private university with about 4100 undergraduate students which allows us a 12-1 student to professor ratio. We have very excellent high academic programs with 71 undergraduate and 28 graduate degree programs in business administration, education, liberal arts, sciences, music, fine and performing arts, counseling, human services and leadership; and 27 undergraduate and graduate certifications.

Head Coach Davon Ortega was hired in July of 2017 with the incoming task of changing the culture of the softball program and to make Rider University Softball a competitor once again.

She and her staff collectively bring 11 years of experience as collegiate softball coaches possessing a record of significant accomplishment and success in building a championship culture as we succeeded in doing so at Holy Family University DII, our former university.

Having completed our first season at Rider (spring 2018) we knew there was going to be a rebuilding of sorts with the team only winning 6 games in the 2017 season and only scoring 82 runs in a 50-game slate but after conclusion of our first season we have exceeded the expectations of many and are looking forward to greater accomplishments to come.

Here are some of the numbers we were able to put up this season;

Rider’s 17 wins in 2018 are its most since 2012, when the Broncs won 20 games, in 2017 the team had only won 6 games.

Rider’s eight league wins are the most since 2010, when the Broncs went 8-8 for the second-straight year. The last Rider team to win more than eight games was the 2006 squad that went 10-6 to qualify for the Broncs’ last MAAC (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) Championship berth, in 2018 we were 2 wins away from qualifying for the MAAC Championships this season.

Rider softball scored 239 runs this season, good for 4.78 runs per game. In the same 50-game slate in 2017, the Broncs scored only 82 runs (1.64 runs per game).

Rider’s RBI leader in the 2017 season had 11 RBI’s, 12 Broncs this season had at least 11 RBI’s each in 2018.

We are highly committed to achieving the goal of competing at the regional and national level of DI softball and to accomplish this we will work to bring the best talent to Rider University!

Rider University can offer the opportunity for some of these talented young ladies to play DI softball as well as achieve a high-quality education and we look forward to hearing from you soon!

I will leave you with more information About Rider and if you could also please pass this link along to any players interested we would greatly appreciate it.

Jim as a side note, below is the link to all of our upcoming winter clinics for anyone who may be interested in attending. In these clinics we are committed to teaching proper technique designed to advance qualities that all players should work to achieve and excel at to be great players.
